Today I am beginning a new three-part blog series called “Defining Fit Life Pursuits Through a Manifesto”. I am super excited about it because I feel like I have finally gotten a good grasp on what Fit Life Pursuits is all about and I really want to break it down for you! I hope you will follow along so we can get to know each other better!
When I first started blogging on Fit Life Pursuits about one year ago, I have to admit that I wasn’t quite sure where my focus should be. I knew I wanted it to be about fitness, but that encompasses a huge range of things. I am a Beachbody coach and I looove to workout at home (for several reasons), but I didn’t feel like that was all there was to Fit Life Pursuits.
Then I started documenting our cross-country road trip and all our outdoor adventures on the blog and I heard from so many people about how they “would love to be able to do something like that” or how they “love following all my adventures and live vicariously through me”. So, that was when I decided that Fit Life Pursuits was not just about fitness or weight loss, it is about pursuing a fit life so that you can enjoy life and enjoy being active, no matter what stage of life you’re in! It’s about being able to enjoy all of life’s adventures.
I have a passion for helping others get fit so they can live the kind of active life they want to live! So, to start off this series I have created my Fit Life Pursuits Manifesto.
A manifesto is “a public declaration of policy, views, and aims of an individual or group, or a mission statement.”

These are all the things I believe as a person and fitness coach. Let’s dive in a little further:
“Motivation Gets You Started, Habit Keeps You Going”
The very first sentence of the Fit Life Pursuits manifesto is “Motivation gets you started”. The very last sentence is “Habit keeps you going.” This is something I firmly believe about fitness, as well as most changes in your life. I experienced this myself as I began my own fitness journey and it was one of the first things I wrote about here.
If you are trying to start something new in your life (like exercise or eating healthy), you are going to feel very motivated in the beginning. This might last for a few days, or if you’re really motivated, a few weeks at best. A lot of people tell me that they stop working out because they have “lost motivation.” Motivation will never carry you through no matter how much you start with. You need to create a plan and stick to that plan until it becomes a habit. Once it does, you won’t need to rely on motivation to keep going, it will become second nature.
With exercise, it usually takes about 3 weeks of consistent exercise to make it become a habit. That means that every day at the same time, you commit to exercising. Do that for 3 weeks straight and you’re creating a fitness habit for life!
“Challenge Yourself, Change Yourself”
If you want something to change in your life, you’ve got to challenge yourself. If you want to to lose weight, have more energy, try something new, eat healthier, you’ve got to change what you are doing. If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got.
Start small and take on one new challenge a month. At Fit Life Pursuits I am all about challenging you to live fit!
“Smile, It’s Contagious”
I believe that a smile goes a long way. At Fit Life Pursuits I hope to put a smile on your face! That’s all 🙂
“Start Today”
No matter where you are in life, don’t put your health and fitness off any longer. That’s what “Start Today” means. Let go of the excuses of, “I’m too busy” or “It’s not a good time” or “I’m too old.” NOW is the best time!
What are you waiting for? – start today. If you’re waiting for everything to line up perfectly, you’ll never start. You don’t have to have the perfect workout plan figured out or the perfect outfits to wear. Start imperfectly. Just start. I encourage you to make YOU a priority again and start today. I am going to give you the tools you need to start, you just have to do it!
I hope you like what Fit Life Pursuits is all about so far! Stick with me for the second installment of “Defining Fit Life Pursuits Through a Manifesto,” coming soon! And, don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter below so you can stay up to date on what’s happening at Fit Life Pursuits!
