But, What Does it Mean to Pursue a Fit Life?

Pursuing a fit life is about being able to say “yes” to any exciting adventure, without having to worry if my body is up for it. It’s about pursuing a life of adventure, staying active, and challenging myself to fully experience life.
Who is Lindsey Banks and What Does She Know About This?

I am a 30-something year old wife, dog mom, outdoor adventurer and certified personal trainer. I didn’t always love fitness though.
After graduating from graduate school, I got married and began working full-time as an Audiologist. I quit being active and got into a major slump. I gained a significant amount of weight in 3 short years and wasn’t really enjoying life.
I wanted to lose weight to be “skinny”. I tried working out on my own and “dieting”, but I could never stay consistent. The problem was that I was a junk food lover, and I was busy. I was unsure how to stay consistent with working out and I didn’t want to give up the foods I love to “diet”.
The hardest part about my lack of activity was that I could physically no longer do the things with my husband that we always enjoyed doing together. On ski trips, my knees would hurt, forcing me to stop. On hiking trips, I would be completely winded. I lost a lot of confidence in myself. It was heartbreaking.
After trying several programs and fitness routines that I either lost interest in or that did not work, I joined an online fitness group with a goal to lose weight.
At the time, it was all about the weight. I didn’t have any “fitness” or “health” goals.
After committing to a Beachbody fitness program and getting the accountability I really needed to stay consistent, I was able to surpass my weight loss goal and get in the best shape of my life!
Exercising then became something entirely different to me. Instead of focusing on weight and how I looked, I realized that I wanted to get fit to get my life back! I wanted to live a healthy life full of adventure and new experiences.
Since then I have explored the world, skied the Swiss Alps, hiked up many mountains, and have taken on many new and challenging adventures! I am now truly experiencing life!
Why Did I Create Fit Life Pursuits?
After experiencing my own fitness and life transformation, I decided that I wanted to give back to others who were struggling like I did. That was when Fit Life Pursuits was born!
I have a passion for challenging others to pursue a fit lifestyle. My mission is to encourage, empower, and equip women to create a fit lifestyle so they can have more energy and confidence to try new things, be active, have fun, and be adventurous.
I want to share my fitness journey with you in hopes that it will inspire you to join me in the pursuit of a fit life! It would be my pleasure to work alongside you. As you read my blog, you’ll also learn that:
I enjoy hiking, climbing, skiing, and spending time being active outdoors with my husband and our two dogs.
Occasionally you will find me dancing around my house while eating a bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
I have a lot of goals. You can Go here to see what I call my own personal “Fit Life Pursuits“.
I am an Audiologist. Don’t know what that is? I work with people who have hearing loss. It’s pretty awesome.
I have no children but I think of my two fur-babies as my children. I’m in love with them.
I love being outdoors and my two favorite outdoor sports are snow-skiing and rock climbing. My husband and I just moved from South Florida to Central Oregon so we can enjoy the things we love! See our adventure roadtrip here.
I am a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with melanoma in 2006. After having it removed, I have been cancer free since! No chemo or radiation necessary.
I am not a tomboy, but I’m not a girly girl either. I enjoy being outdoors more than in. I mostly go for items of comfort over fashion. I don’t know much about makeup or hair products and I don’t like manicures and pedicures. I like things simple.
When God blesses me, I try to remember to give Him thanks. Success does not come from my own power but His.
