One thing I have learned from working out is that you can’t get a flat stomach or six-pack abs by doing a lot of crunches. Sure, crunches will strengthen the ab muscles, but if there is a layer of fat sitting over those muscles, you will never know they’re there. You can do crunches all day long and it won’t make a difference.
That is why for this core workout, I am focusing on burning fat as well as gaining muscle. This workout will definitely work your abs, but will also get your heart rate up and into that fat burning zone.
This workout will help to build up your cardiovascular endurance AND your core strength! No equipment is needed for this workout so it’s a core workout you can easily do at home!
I love core workouts and these exercises are some of my favorites! Try to do 10 repetitions of each exercise in a row, rest 1 minute, and repeat the sequence 2-3 more times.

Be sure to watch each of the videos below so you know how to complete each exercise correctly:
Backwards Burpee
Take this move slow at first until you feel comfortable rolling back onto your shoulders. It’s not about speed! You will use your core to stabilize yourself during the roll. It’s a lot of fun too!
Mountain Climbers
You will feel this one in your shoulders too, that’s normal! As you build up your shoulder strength, this move becomes much easier.
Toe Touch Windmills
It is difficult, but try to keep your legs as straight as possible. The bottom leg should hover just above the floor without touching. Reach for those toes!
Half Burpee Jacks
Jump both feet in together and then back out to plank position. Then jump both feet out into a plank jack. You’ll get the hang of it, give it a try!
Spiderman Planks
One of my favorite moves! This one will really target the obliques. I prefer doing this in a forearm plank but it can be done in a traditional plank as well. Take your pick!
Side Plank Jumps
This is one of the harder moves in the series. Jump both feet out to the side and then back to a straight plank. Repeat the jump to the opposite side.

Do you workout at home?

I’m going to have to give these backwards burpees a try! I haven’t seen them before!
They are fun but hard! You have to take them slow at first until you get the hang of them. Let me know if you try them!
Backwards burpee?! I Love it!!!! (or should I say love to hate?)
Ha! Yes they are tough but fun!
