Day Fifteen
We left our La Quinta hotel in Berkeley, CA early this morning, with another long and scenic drive ahead.
(on a side note…I wouldn’t recommend the La Quinta in Berkeley, especially if traveling with dogs. There was no grass to walk them around the hotel and it didn’t seem to be in the safest area.)
We took the Pacific Coast Highway (AKA California State Road 1) North up the Pacific coast. It was absolutely beautiful!
I of course didn’t like the fact that the roads were really winding (leaving the windows down with the ocean breeze helped the motion sickness) but it was worth it to see the views!
On one side of the car was the ocean, with steep cliffs and huge rocks. On the other side was rolling hills. I don’t think a scenic drive can get much better than that!
We stopped along the way to take many pictures and took our time on the drive.

We stopped at the Rollerville Cafe for lunch, just outside Point Arena along CA-1. They had great food!
Along the drive there were a ton of pretty wildflowers, and I saw my first wild calla lily! These are my favorite flowers (I used them everywhere in my wedding) and I have never actually seen one growing in the wild.

Once we got further North, CA-1 merges with Highway 101 and the views turn into more redwoods and less coastline. It was still beautiful! We took a side street that parallels 101 called “The Avenue of The Giants” where there were giant redwood trees!

I stopped to do my #pushupandplank challenge next to one of the huge fallen redwoods.

We even got to drive through one of the redwood trees! Haha!

We ended up stopping at about 7:00pm in Eureka, CA for the night. We didn’t make it quite as far as we thought we would today since we stopped a lot to take in the views.
I am sad to say that our trip is coming close to an end. But, I am also excited to get to our home in Bend! Our movers delivered all of our stuff to the house today! Our property manager was nice enough to go meet them while they moved it in the house. It will be nice to show up with all of our things already there!
