Every year I try to take time to reflect back on how I did with getting closer to accomplishing my Fit Life Pursuits, as well as add on some new goals I may have. If you’re new to reading this blog you should know that my Fit Life Pursuits are not all about fitness. They’re about life goals in general that I’ve broken up into 4 categories: adventure, mission, fitness, and business.
Here are my big wins for 2017:
1. Visit to Indiana
With my job I spent a lot of time traveling around Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, but one new state I did get to visit this year was Indiana. I had a week-long conference in Indianapolis, Indiana and got to spend a little fun time in the city. Although the weather wasn’t great in April (cold and rainy) I was impressed by the city. I got to check the state of Indiana off my bucket list, although I hope to go back some day.
2. Rock climb in Thailand
This March I went to Thailand with my husband, sister, and brother-in-law. It was awesome and beautiful, and I got to rock climb there. I had always heard how great the climbing was in Thailand, and just the fact that the cliffs are right on the beach makes the views even more impressive.

3. Ride an elephant
On the Thailand trip, I also got to ride an elephant!! We chose to visit an elephant rescue that helps to reduce elephant exploitation, and it was really really cool to be up close with them! Be sure to check out details from the whole trip here.

4. Become a Younglife leader
I have been involved in Younglife since I was in high school and was involved on summer staff 3 times in college. I’ve always wanted to become a Younglife leader but due to our constant moves I never committed to it. Since moving back to Florida I took the leap and have started leader training. Our first club is in just a few weeks!
Here are my losses for 2017:
1. No fitness accomplishments
Although I didn’t accomplish any of my fitness goals in 2017, I stayed consistent with working out even in the midst of all the business travel I was doing, as well as a cross-country roadtrip and move, buying a house, and starting a brand new job. I’ve been continuing to use BOD to stay on top of my daily workouts, even if it’s just 10 minutes/day.
2. No business accomplishments
I haven’t been as consistent about blogging in 2017 because life got a little crazy. But, I still managed to write some of my favorite blog posts ever in 2017. Here are some of my favorites from the past year:
My Love Letter to Oregon and Why We Had to Break Up
7 Things I Learned From Spending 200 Nights in a Hotel in One Year
The Ultimate 10-Day Thailand Trip
My 2018 Goals:
1. Local adventures
Now that we’ve settled into our new house in Florida, we probably won’t be doing any big traveling this year. Instead, I want to focus on local adventures where I live and not take this area for granted. I want to focus on enjoying what Florida has to offer in 2018.
2. No soda
In 2016 I went without drinking soda for the whole year. I knew that it was an addiction for me and I wanted to see if I could give it up. I wrote a post about it here that you should definitely check out. In 2017 I went back to drinking it again and it has become an addiction again. In 2018 I am going to quit soda for good.
3. Get stronger
In 2018 I am going to stay consistent with my workouts and focus on strength. To be more specific, I’d like to accomplish the 50 push-ups goal on my Fit Life Pursuits list. I workout at home using Beachbody on Demand to stay consistent. I will be starting 2018 following the 80-Day Obsession Program and will continue to focus on strength workouts this year.
In order to measure your goals you need to write them down and share them with someone who will help to hold you accountable. Share your 2018 goals with me in the comments below!
Happy 2018!
