Happy first day of July! And a very Happy Birthday to my dad and little sister who both are celebrating their Birthdays today!
I can’t believe June is already over! I feel like I just wrote my May Roundup yesterday! Did June go by fast or slow for you?
Today, I am excited to bring you some of the best online articles from June! If you are anything like me, you don’t have hours and hours of time in your day to read everything that’s on the web! Did you know that around 3 million blog posts go live every single day?! Holy moly!
So, I thought I would do you a favor and round up some of my favorites from the month so you can save time by not having to sort through them all!
Oh and if you like following blogs like me, don’t forget to follow me on Bloglovin’!
Travel on a Budget
I love to travel! Every time I get home from a trip I immediately start planning the next one. It’s not that I don’t like being home, but there are just so many things to see in the world! The only problem is that it can be expensive to travel so much. The other day I just booked a flight to Nashville and it cost me over $800! Does anyone remember when flights were around $200 round trip? Can’t we go back to that?
So then I came across these 24 Tips on How to Travel on a Budget from the Travelettes and I was shocked to find out that some airline websites will raise the price of flights when you keep checking flights for the same dates. They do this by tracking your website cookies! Not the kind of cookies you eat, but the ones that store information about websites you’ve been on! One way to avoid this from happening is to clear your cookies before searching for flight prices. So sneaky huh? Be sure to check out this article for some other great budget travel tips!
Trader Joe’s Finds
Speaking of cookies…if you have not been to Trader Joe’s yet then you need to go! They have cookie butter sandwich cookies! Oh. My. Goodness! TJ’s has some of the most unique foods that are high quality but not expensive. I am a fan of their dark chocolate sea salt almonds! These are a delicious snack that (as we learned last week) can actually help protect your skin from the sun, and I haven’t been able to find them anywhere else!
I was super excited to come across Kelly’s article about the 10 Trader Joe’s Items You Didn’t Know You Needed. Take a look and see if there is anything you’re missing out on!
Travel With Your Dog
I read a bunch of great articles about travel this month and I have definitely caught the travel bug. Besides a quick trip to Nashville for the Beachbody coaching conference this month, we don’t have anything planned until November when we make the 3,000 mile drive back to Florida for my sister-in-laws wedding and Thanksgiving. Our last road trip was awesome and I’m excited for the next one!
One of the most challenging things about traveling is when you are doing it with your dogs. Our dogs travel pretty well, but I still found these tips from Here Pup on How to Travel With Your Dog, really helpful!
Protein Chocolate Chip Pancakes
I am a big sucker for chocolate chip pancakes, but I know they are not the best for you. But, when I came across these Chocolate Chip Pancakes from Not so Ordi-Nanny Me I was excited to learn that they are made using protein powder with no oil, butter, or flour! I immediately saved these to my recipe book and can’t wait to give them a try using my vanilla shakeology powder.
From Fit Life Pursuits
In case you missed anything from Fit Life Pursuits in June, here’s a recap of some of my favorite posts for the month:
This post was very popular, especially because I tell people it’s a good thing to eat dark chocolate! But, in all seriousness, skin protection is very near and dear to my heart since being diagnosed with Melanoma. You can also read more about my Melanoma experience here on The Huffington Post where my story was featured!
The highlight of June for me was when I had family come visit for a week! We explored a lot of Oregon and ate a lot of good food!
I kicked off June with a recap of our 14-mile hike to the South Sister Summit for National Trails Day! It was one of the hardest things I have ever done but totally worth it!
My July Goals
July is always one of my favorite months of the year. I love how relaxed everyone is during the summer, and July is my Birthday month!
Even though it’s summertime, I have set some goals for myself for the month of July and I’d like to share them with you to hold myself accountable. I am always trying to push myself and challenge myself, whether it be through fitness or life in general.
- Complete the Summer Sweat Challenge
- Start practicing lead climbing again at the rock gym (this is an awesome workout!)
- Try new recipes
- Meet new people
Now, I want to hear from you! What are some of your goals for July?
Did you know about the cookies?
